An Arikaree Storm
A storm rolls over the rugged terrain of the Arikaree Breaks north of St. Francis, in the far northwest corner of Kansas. The Breaks were created by the wind millions of years ago and extend for miles in what now is Kansas and eastern Colorado. Cattle graze the Arikarees but both roads and people are few. This storm produced lightning and high wind but little rain.
